Makueni County Aka Housing Cooperative Society LTD

The Makueni County Aka Housing Cooperative Society was initiated by like-minded Women of Makueni County in June 2012 after a meeting organised by Makueni County professionals in Malili town to sensitize people about the Konza Techno City.

The idea of a cooperative society was found to be the best option because it would benefit all women and it is regulated by the Government which would ensure that the interest of the members is protected.

Makueni County Aka Housing Cooperative Society Ltd is registered under the Ministry of Cooperative Development and Marketing as a Women Cooperative Society – Registered on 5th September, 2013, registration No. CS/ 14627.

Makueni County Aka Housing Cooperative Society Ltd is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise. The board of directors and the representatives of the members usually consults freely and extensively on vital issues regarding the investment of members funds.

The Society’s aim is to exploit investment opportunities at the Konza Techno City in Malili, Makueni County for commercial purposes. The Konza City is expected to be a sustainable world class technology hub and a major economic driver for the nation with a vibrant mix of business, workers, residents and urban amenities. The Makueni Aka want to be part of this major development.

The Cooperative society currently has over 500 members committed towords the cooperatives objectives. The members meet every First Sunday of every month at Nedland Inn, Malili town.

  2. To Lobby in the county for projects that promote and empower women.

  3. To be the biggest and best managed women society in Kenya.

  1. To Sensitize Makueni women about the Konza City and the opportunities available for investment.

  2. To Recruit women as members of the society.

  3. To Buy and Sell shares to members.

  4. To Organise training for the management , Supervisory and members.

  5. To Build capacity for women to invest

  6. To Share knowledge and information Mobilize

  1. To contribute capital towards the development of Makueni plaza in Konza Techno City.

  2. To Invest in the money market and earn interest.

  3. To Acquire and develop Real Estates.

  4. To be the leading microfinance institution in Makueni County.

The society’s leadership continues to steer the members to greater opportunities that empower and provide income to the team through:

  1. Investments in Unit trusts.

  2. Obtaining Integrated Financial Management Information System certification in order to Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) which we are now registered.

  3. Partnership with Other Investors

  4. Good rapport with banks reared towards obtaining Capital funding for various investment opportunities.
